Mr. Yukitoshi Ito, a botanist and certified arborist, visited the area surrounding OMOYA and observed the local growing environment. After seeing how well the plants flourish here, he shared a simple but memorable thought:

His words encouraged us to look anew at the richness of this landscape and the natural environment that has supported life here for generations.
OMOYA Soryo is built around the structure of a traditional Japanese home that has stood for nearly 300 years. While honoring its history, our intention was never simply to preserve the house as it once was. Instead, we have carefully adapted it to support contemporary living while retaining its character and spirit.
Rather than preserving the house as a museum piece, we wanted it to remain a place that continues to be lived in and enjoyed. To achieve this, we thoughtfully reconsidered the layout, circulation, and materials throughout the house, creating a space that feels both comfortable and natural.
This house is where the owner's father was born and raised, and it has been part of everyday life for many generations. For the owner as well, it is a cherished place filled with childhood memories and a deep sense of connection.
By valuing the time that has been passed down through generations and carrying it forward into the future, we hope OMOYA will be more than just a place to stay. We hope it offers a quiet opportunity to connect with the rhythms of this land, its nature, and the people whose lives have been woven into it over time.
